This is a free-form board for the Lincoln community. Anyone can read along, and members can start a thread or reply.
Why we built it: The other sections of Lincoln.Life are curated — News, Sports and Events come in from feeds, the Directory is a list of local businesses, Family Matters is editorial. Community Chat is different. It is the only section where the content is yours. If you have a question, an idea, a recommendation, a memory, or just something you want to share with neighbours, this is the place.
What fits here: A question for the community ("Best place for a Sunday roast within 10 minutes of the cathedral?"), a story worth sharing, a heads-up about something happening locally, a recommendation, a thank-you to a local business or person, or just a conversation starter. If it would make sense to chat about over a coffee with someone from Lincoln, it fits.
What doesn't fit: Anything aggressive, anything that excludes people, and anything that's really a sales pitch dressed up as a post. We also steer clear of political hot topics — those discussions exist on plenty of other forums and they tend to overwhelm community spaces. Keeping politics off-topic here is what lets everything else feel friendly.
Reading is open to everyone. Posting and replying need a free account so we know who's who and so the moderation rails work.
