The village of Billinghay has recently welcomed a significant upgrade to its local amenities, as the Lincolnshire Co-op has invested £490,000 in a refurbishment of the Billinghay Food Store and Post Office. This transformation is part of a broader initiative by Lincolnshire Co-op to enhance food stores and Post Offices across the county, as reported by Lincolnshire Live.

Over the past six months, Lincolnshire Co-op has committed £2 million to revamp six different outlets, with an annual investment of approximately £4 million earmarked for its cyclical refresh programme. This ongoing initiative, which began 18 months ago, has already seen around £6 million dedicated to improving 39 locations, including food stores, pharmacies, and funeral services.

The refurbishment of the Billinghay Food Store and Post Office has introduced a fresh look, along with an array of new products and services for local customers. Among the exciting additions are Red Bull and frozen Coca-Cola machines, as well as Country Choice hot food options. The store has also seen the creation of a new staff room and an in-store bakery unit, where hot meals can now be prepared.

Hazel Blackbourn, the manager of the food store, expressed her delight at the renovations. She noted, "We’re delighted with the refurbishment of the store and the services we’re now able to deliver, including hot food. More customers are enjoying a range of new products, like COOK frozen meals." Hazel also praised her team for their hard work during the refurbishment, highlighting their dedication to maintaining exceptional customer service throughout the process.

In addition to the food store, the Post Office has received a facelift, featuring new signage and shelving to enhance the shopping experience. The refurbishment has also included several energy-efficient upgrades, such as LED lighting, insulated door curtains in refrigeration rooms, and CO2 refrigeration systems, all aimed at promoting sustainability.

Andy Warman, Lincolnshire Co-op's chief commercial and transformation officer, shared his enthusiasm for the project, stating, "Refreshing our food stores ensures we’re meeting the needs of local communities by extending product ranges, providing new services, and achieving even better customer service." He expressed gratitude for the positive feedback from colleagues, which continues to inspire new ideas as the programme moves forward.

This investment not only enhances the shopping experience for residents but also reflects Lincolnshire Co-op's commitment to supporting the community. As the changes take shape, local residents are likely to enjoy the benefits of a more vibrant and service-oriented food store and Post Office.
