Refurbishment works have officially commenced at Lincoln County Hospital, with the aim of enhancing patient services within the Stroke Unit. As reported by Lincolnshire Live, this significant project carries a budget of £1.9 million and focuses on reconfiguring and improving the Navenby Ward to increase its capacity.

The refurbishment will merge the existing two five-bay wards into a single Hyper Acute Stroke Unit. This transformation will not only modernise the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems but also involve layout changes to ancillary compartments, creating a more efficient and supportive environment for both patients and staff.

In addition to the structural changes, the existing ward will receive a fresh look with new floors, doors, decorations, and lighting. These upgrades are designed to improve the overall atmosphere of the hospital, making it a more welcoming place for patients and a more attractive workplace for hospital staff.

Henry Brothers Construction has been appointed to carry out this important work under the Pagabo Refit and Refurbishment Framework. Ian Taylor, the managing director of Henry Brothers Construction, expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, "We are very pleased to have begun work on this project at Lincoln County Hospital which will improve patient services and provide a more attractive place for hospital staff to work."

Taylor also highlighted the company's commitment to supporting local healthcare initiatives, noting their involvement in several healthcare schemes across the East Midlands, including a recently completed Endoscopy Unit in Leicester.

Once the refurbishment of Navenby Ward is complete, the next phase of the project will focus on the existing Stroke Unit, further enhancing the hospital’s capabilities to provide excellent care for patients.

This refurbishment project is a significant step forward for Lincoln County Hospital, reflecting a commitment to improving health services in the community. As work progresses, many in Lincoln and the surrounding areas are likely to be eager to see the positive changes unfold.
