Residents of Gedney Hill, a village near Spalding, are bracing for several months of roadworks as Anglian Water embarks on a major project to replace 18km of water pipes. This significant upgrade aims to ensure a safe and reliable water supply for the community for many years to come. According to Lincolnshire Live, the work is expected to start soon and will span from April to October, with an anticipated completion date in spring next year.
The £4.2 million investment is part of Anglian Water's efforts to address the growing demand for water in the east of England, which is not only the driest part of the country but also one of the fastest growing regions. With projections of over 700,000 new residents in the next two decades, the company is keen to ensure that the infrastructure keeps pace with this growth.
Ashton Carradine, a customer experience specialist for the project, expressed gratitude to the community for their patience during this essential work. She noted that the upgrades are crucial for maintaining reliable water services in Gedney Hill and surrounding areas. The project is part of Anglian Water's Water Resources Management Plan, which aims to secure water supply in the face of increasing demand.
During the construction period, several road closures will be implemented to facilitate the work. The closures will occur in phases:
- **Langary Gate Road - Phase One:** Closed from Monday, April 27 until Friday, June 5. - **Langary Gate Road - Phase Two:** Closed from Monday, June 8 until Monday, September 7. - **North Road:** Closed from Monday, August 3 until Tuesday, September 1. - **West Drove South:** Closed from Monday, September 14 until Friday, October 9. - **Mill Lane:** Traffic lights will be in place from Monday, August 3 until Friday, September 11.
While these changes may cause some inconvenience for local drivers, Anglian Water assures residents that their water and sewerage services should remain unaffected throughout the duration of the work. Community members are encouraged to plan their travel routes accordingly and stay informed about the ongoing construction.
As Gedney Hill prepares for this extensive upgrade, residents are reminded of the importance of these improvements for the future. It’s an opportunity for the community to come together and discuss how these changes will impact daily life in the village.
